Popular Films

Coverage, Ink. is proud to announce that we have teamed with POPULAR FILMS. Popular is a working Hollywood production company with big projects and smart executives. In fact, Popular's Tim Albaugh was Coverage, Ink. founder Jim Cirile's teacher in the UCLA Professional Program in Screenwriting!

Popular Films offers a different approach than Coverage, Ink. Rather than give you a written script analysis report, Popular gives you a detailed script mark-up, and then will discuss their page notes with you, page by page, in a lengthy (typically 90 minutes to 2 hours) phone call or in-person meeting (if you're in the Los Angeles area.)

Put Popular's expertise to work on your project and watch it come to life. Click here to read an in-depth interview with Popular Films' execs at the CI blog!

Who We Are

Tim Albaugh
   Tim Albaugh

Tim Albaugh is an alumnus of the UCLA Graduate Program in Film and Television where he was the recipient of the Jack Nicholson and William Froug Screenwriting Awards. Tim has sold or optioned scripts to various studios and production companies. He wrote the film TRADING FAVORS, starring Rosanna Arquette and Cuba Gooding Jr.

Tim teaches in the world-famous graduate screenwriting program at UCLA. His students have sold scripts to all the major studios and television networks.

The latest film written in one of his classes was THE MACHINIST, starring Christian Bale and Jennifer Jason Leigh.

CROAK, written by Richard Davis which Sean and Tim are producing with Hudson River Entertainment (script was written in one of Tim's classes).

Sean Sorensen
 Sean Sorensen

Sean Sorensen was trained at San Diego State and UCLA as an actor, but has found his niche in screenwriting and producing. Together with Tim Albaugh, Sean founded the Los Angeles-based production company Popular Films. Sean currently has several films in development including:

  • SEALAND which Sean is writing and Executive Producing at Warner Bros. Mike Newell (FOUR WEDDINGS AND A FUNERAL, DONNIE BRASCO, HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE) attached to direct.
  • WEASEL which Sean and Tim are Producing with Echo Lake Productions (script was written in one of Tim's classes).
  • WHITEOUT which Sean is writing for Hudson River Entertainment.
  • LIVE NUDE GIRLS UNITE! which Sean is Producing with Reason Pictures. Nicole Kassell (THE WOODSMAN) attached to direct.
  • HURRICANE SEASON which Sean is Co-Executive Producing with Adelstein Productions and State Street Pictures at HBO.

  • Jared Tweedie
     Jared Tweedie

Jared Tweedie obtained his MFA in Screenwriting at Chapman University, winning the Chapman Award for Best Feature Screenplay. While Jared is conversant in all types of movies, he has a special place in his heart for genre films: Sci-Fi, Horror, Comedy, and any combinations thereof.

When he's not working as Director of Development for Popular Films, he can often be found skulking around the sets of B-grade horror movies.

Jared believes in helping a writer clearly frame, and then realize, his or her own particular vision regardless if they are crafting a Hollywood studio pic or a quirky little indie (or one of those rare films that somehow successfully bridges the gap).

He wants to help the writer write the story they want to write, while ensuring they convey that story in the most articulate, attention-snatching way.

    What We Offer

When you hire us as script consultants, we treat your script as if it's something we're producing. Either Tim, Sean, or Jared* will read your script and make copious notations on essentially every page. Since we are screenwriters as well as producers, our notes are the most thorough you'll find anywhere.

Our notes combine years of professional screenwriting expertise with our understanding of what the marketplace is currently looking for. Depending on where you live, we either meet with you in person or have a lengthy phone call with you to discuss each note line by line.

And since Tim, Sean, and Jared are pretty personable fellas (unless they are golfing), there's a good chance the process will end up being as fun as it is productive.

We look forward to helping get your script to that next level.

    Talk to you soon!

    Tim, Sean, and Jared

*When you submit your script to Tim or Sean, either Tim or Sean will read your script, depending on their current schedules. When you submit a script to Jared, he's the one that will be your consultant.
